In the midst of a global pandemic, it is impossible to predict with any certainty when the epidemic will have run its course, as it is affecting different regions of the world at different times.
With that in mind, the ICPOW 2021 Local Organising Committee (LOC) has made the decision to postpone the 4th International Congress on Parasites of Wildlife (ICPOW) that was rescheduled for September 2021 to September 2022.
The decision to postpone ICPOW was a difficult one, as we know how much the Parasitology community values the opportunity to meet, network and discuss important parasitological issues. The LOC is also concerned about the adverse economic impact of the crisis on all members and stakeholders. These considerations have led to the conclusion that it would be unwise to plan an international event at all this year.
We are very hopeful that we can return to the usual meeting schedule in 2022 and host the 4th ICPOW at the same venue in the Kruger National Park.
First of all, thank you to all that have submitted abstracts. We will open a new call for abstracts at the end of 2021 again. If you have already submitted an abstract for the congress, you are welcome to resubmit the same abstract, an updated abstract or a new abstract for the 2022 Congress. No submitted abstracts will be carried over to 2022. You will need to resubmit the abstract.
Registrations & Accommodation
All registrations for the congress that are paid up will be transferred to next year’s congress. If you, however, would like to cancel your registration, we will be able to refund you in full, less any banking fees incurred. For all registrations that are not yet paid and would like to be transferred to the 2022 congress, we will honour the current registration fee if full payment is received by 30 June 2021. Payment not received by this date will automatically be cancelled, and you can re-register for the 2022 congress once the registrations open up. Updated registration fees for the 2022 congress will be communicated in due time.
Accommodation fees paid can also be refunded, less processing fees as the 2022 rates will be higher. You are welcome to contact the secretariat in the event that you would like to transfer your booking to 2022 and settle the difference in rates next year.
We thank you for your interest in the meeting and look forward to seeing you in South Africa in 2022.
